I've been thinking a lot about body image and how that melds with our thinking and spiritual life.
When we start to see ourselves or others as "parts",
we fall into a trap of looking at each other
as something less than an amazing human "being".
A soul residing in a body here on earth.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made!
(Ps 139:14)
When we remember that God has given us this body as our home and His temple,
so he can live "with" us, and in us, and work through us,
we have a better perspective and can show
honor and respect for our physical body.
This, in turn, increases our overall wholeness in our body, mind, and soul.
In scripture, we find that if we separate the body of Christ, the Church,
into just it's parts,
it does not fulfill its purpose well.
To be the body of Christ,
the parts must work together to bring honor and glory to God.
(Rom 12:4-5)
We also must view our body, mind, and soul as a whole that works together.
Each part affects the other aspects for betterment or detriment.
Our actions, our thoughts, and emotions
all play a big role in our wholeness and overall health.
It's all interconnected!
God has truly "knit" each one of us together in a wonderful way!
